What is PancakeSwap?
PancakeSwap is a decentralized exchange (DEX) built on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC). The popular crypto platform lets users easily swap, stake, and farm cryptocurrencies. As an automated market maker (AMM), PancakeSwap relies on liquidity pools instead of traditional order books. This allows PancakeSwap to offer low training fees and a low-cost alternative to traditional exchanges, making it a popular choice for traders and investors.
What is WalletConnect?
WalletConnect is an open-source protocol supported by many different decentralized applications (DApps) and wallets. Allowing users to connect decentralized applications to mobile wallets by scanning a QR code with their mobile phone camera.
When connecting Trust Wallet with WalletConnect, users can interact securely with DApps using their mobile without using the inbuilt Trust wallet DApp Browser.
What is the Trust Wallet DApp Browser?
The Trust Wallet DApp browser is a fully functional Web3 browser that can be used to interact with the supported apps. It provides a simple and secure connection between you and Binance Smart Chain or Ethereum-based DApps, including the likes of PancakeSwap, SushiSwap, and UniSwap.
Why was the Trust Wallet DApp Browser Removed?
The DApp Browser was removed for iOS users (not Android) by Trust wallet in June 2020 to comply with the new Apple app store guidelines. All apps on Apple’s iOS must conform to a certain set of guidelines to be able to be listed in the App Store.
Unfortunately, DApps, are deemed as “code not embedded in the (app) binary” and therefore need to meet the criteria to be allowed in an iOS app.
Although the Trust Wallet team tried to resolve this issue, they had to remove the feature from future app releases. Many users (including Every Bit Helps) found a solution by adding the Dapp Browser back to the Trust wallet App. However, this hack is no longer possible following Apple’s latest update.
Now, for iOS users to be able to connect Trust Wallet to PancakeSwap and other DApps, you’ll need to use the WalletConnect feature.
